As the second period was nearing its end with BU leading 3-0, a fire alarm unexpectedly sounded in Merrimack College's Lawler Arena.
"Fire Alarm Going Off At The Merrimack Vs BU Hockey Game.

Currently evacuating Lawler Arena."
Despite the disruption, the game eventually continued, with Boston University maintaining their 3-0 advantage into the final break.
"a totally normal second period has finally come to an end."
Humorously, BU's Twitter account suggested that a Merrimack supporter might have triggered the alarm, given their team's substantial deficit...
"sounds like someone pulled the fire alarm (we're up 3-0 so can't blame them). we'll play the final 1:49 of the second period shortly, take a 2:00 break, then play the third period."
Currently, Merrimack holds the 9th spot in the NCAA's Hockey East conference with a 2-4-1 record, while BU leads the conference with a 5-1-1 record.
