Junior Hockey Player Knocks Out Referee After Being Ejected
During a USPHL game between the South Shore Kings and the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights, a penalty turned into an assault.
Penalty Escalates to Assault
The video shows a normal hockey breakout. A player goes to make a hit on a puck carrier and misses. The puck carrier, Paul Halloran of the South Shore Kings, ends up bumping into the referee and for some reason decides to shove the referee.
The play is then blown dead and the player is ejected. Halloran is visibly upset by the call and starts to make his way to the penalty box. He then pivots towards the referee who made the call as he passes him and punches him in the face.
The Repercussions
Halloran is then held back by the other referees and escorted out of the frame of the camera. The referee pops back up and is reported to have been fine. The last update is that Halloran is under investigation and could be permanently suspended from the league.
