Bruce Boudreau Reveals Who He Thinks Should be Canucks Captain
Even with a lot of talent on their lineup, the Vancouver Canucks haven't been able to find their rhythm in the last few seasons. Now, with a new coach and the same talent, they could cause a surprise in the coming season.
The Canucks are hoping to see several players step up their game next season. There's a lot of talented young players, like
Quinn Hughes and
Elias Pettersson. These are the type of guys you build a team around. But can they do it?
Something that's been missing and could help the team spirit is naming a team captain.
Their former head coach, Bruce Boudreau, gave his opinion on the matter.
Here's what Boudreau revealed:
I think you guys know who my pick is already. I think there would be a couple of good guys, I think Petey (Elias Pettersson) if he stays there is going to be a great captain. - Bruce Boudreau
This doesn't come as a surprise, but Boudreau, like many fans, thinks that Pettersson should be named captain.
Pettersson had a breakout season last year, scoring 102 points at only 24 years old.
As the former coach hinted, Pettersson will be a free agent next summer, and if he isn't happy with the way things are in the organizaion, he could decide to move his career. If he stays, there's no doubt that he'll be a great captain for the Canucks.
