Sad news has come out of Sweden tonight where an Olympian has been left paralyzed after an accident.
Olympian Paralyzed After Accident
Multiple reports have confirmed that Finnish Olympian and player for HV71 Sanni Hakala has been paralyzed from the waist down. She collided into the boards head-first after losing her balance in a puck battle.
Paramedics tried to evaluate her lower extremities and get them to react with no success.
"We pressed hard on her leg several times with really hard strength and she did not react," said a paramedic as per Jonkopings-Posten.
We wish Hakala and her family the best after such a tragic accident. Hopefully, she can recover and find a way to return to the ice in some capacity in the future.
As more details become available we will provide them to you.
