They tell you to make your shots count and that's exactly what the Tampa Bay Lightning did on Friday night, setting an NHL record for shooting percentage in an 8-2 win over Carolina.
At the end of the first period, Tampa Bay had just one shot on goal and were trailing, 1-0.
They picked up the pace a bit in the second frame, offering up a whopping six shots on goal, but made the most out of half of them, scoring three times.
Then in the third was near unstoppable, outdoing their second period output by putting a whole seven shots on goal, seeing five of them get through.
It was the only time since the NHL began tracking the statistic (1955-56) where a single goalie in a game stopped less than 50% of the shots against him.
Goalie
Andrei Vasilevskiy made his season debut for Tampa Bay, returning from surgery in September, to notch the win with a 22-save performance.
