After Auston Matthews failed to reach the 70-goal marker, Sheldon Keefe called it a distraction for the team. Now, PK Subban has shared his thoughts on the matter.
There is no question about the fact that the last 4-5 games haven't meant much for the Toronto Maple Leafs, since they clinched the playoffs. The only real goal seemed to be getting Auston Matthews the puck to see if he could reach 70 goals. While that was fun, it clearly became the only goal of their offence when he was on the ice, and some even called it a distraction.
Honestly, the chase for 70 goals didn't produce the best product for the Leafs, sure. They struggled around the ice, and ended up on a losing skid heading into the playoffs. However, that likely doesn't mean all that much, and it provided some much-needed hype for the Leafs heading into the playoffs.
