Zach Parise shares his retirement plans in new interview
in a new interview, Colorado Avalanche's Zach Parise shares his retirement plans as he gears up for the 15th playoff run of his career.
The former New Jersey Devils' captain signed a one-year contract with the Avalanche earlier this year, at the age of 39:
He revealed in a recent interview that after 19 seasons in the NHL, playing for the New Jersey Devils, Minnesota Wild, New York Islanders and Colorado Avalanche, he'll retire after the current season.
This means that tonight's game between the Avs and the Oilers will be his last regular-season game.
He doesn't want to make a big deal of it, but #Avs Zach Parise confirmed tomorrow night will be the last regular-season game of his career.
He's also happy he came back and ready for one more chance to win the Stanley Cup:
"Yeah, I've decided. I'm not going to make a big deal out of it. I was content coming back that this would be the last one."
"It's been awesome to be a part of. The experience itself. Playing with these guys and even just practicing with them, it makes you a better player even at my age. It's gone even better than I thought it would be."
Despite his vast experience, the Stanley Cup eludes him, and he'll hope to finally put his hands on the coveted trophy in the coming months, with the Avs.
He played 1253 NHL games in his career and tallied 888 points in that time. In the playoffs, he took part of 111 games, and scored 80 points in 15 runs.
Colorado have a lot of very talented teams to beat if they want to make it to the Finals. The Avs will hope that Parise's experience will give them an edge on the other teams.
