NHL Owners Reportedly Blacklist Player From Returning to the NHL

Minority NHL owners Olivia and Anna Melnyk have reportedly blasklisted a player from returning to the NHL.

Following the tragic passing of Eugene Melnyk, his daughters Anna and Olivia inherited the Ottawa Senators. Since then, they have gone on to sell majority ownership to Michael Andlauer while also retaining minority ownership in the team.





Since the sale, there has been a lot that has gone down including the Senators being forced to give up a first-round pick and the firing of longtime GM Pierre Dorion.

One of the many storylines that have continued over the regime change is what will happen to forward Alex Formenton.

Melnyk's Blacklist Formenton

Formenton was a member of the 2018 Team Canada World Junior Championships roster and has had his reputation tarnished the most by the investigation. While nothing is official and announced, what is confirmed is that Formenton remains an RFA with the Senators and is currently playing overseas with contract negotiations on hold.

In a recent report, it was revealed that the Melnyk's do not want Formenton back on the Senators under any circumstances.



While we do not know what will happen as a result of this move, we do know that the Melnyk's will do their best to ensure that Formenton does not return to the Senators. Whether this means the Senators will trade Formenton or simply retain his rights and wait for them to expire, it will all but guarantee that Formento will not have an NHL home anytime soon.
