Adam Oates calls out William Nylander but defends Mitch Marner
It's been nearly two weeks now since the Boston Bruins eliminated the Toronto Maple Leafs from the Stanley Cup Playoffs and fans and media still can't get over superstar forward Mitch Marner's lack of effort in the postseason.
Mitch Marner has been the scapegoat by fans, while William Nylander and Auston Matthews have walked away freely from criticism despite another first round exit.
Adam Oates has come to a defense on Mitch Marner however, where he argued that Nylander doesn't quite play against the best players, as opposed to Mitch Marner who is matched up against the best lines on every team.
«Nylander, you don't play against everyone's best, let's get that straight» 😳

It's a very debatable point presented by Oates, as you can argue Nylander was matched up with the David Pastrnak line during the series. I think the whole situation regarding the Leafs needs to be evaluated this off-season, with a change to the core being a desperate decision. Someone has to go..
