Brad Treliving finally reveals injury that Auston Matthews suffered

Today the Toronto Maple Leafs finally held their end-of-season press conference. During the press conference, GM Brad Treliving confirmed the injury status of several players including Auston Matthews.

Throughout the playoffs the Toronto Maple Leafs struggled with several different injuries. The biggest of which was suffered by Auston Matthews. To this point Auston Matthews' exact injury was a bit of a mystery. He had confirmed to be sick and that a weird hit further injured him.

Now today during the Brad Treliving's remarks he confirmed that the other injury Auston Matthews picked up was indeed a head injury. While not calling it a concussion it sounds as though Auston Matthews was in concussion protocol and only cleared for Game 7.

Treliving clarifies Auston Matthews injury. Picked up a virus after Game 2hit in Game 4, presented «head injury» issues. Was not cleared until Game 7.




This finally confirms what was widely speculated among fans and media throughout the time Auston Matthews was injured. Brad Treliving was also able to confirm that star goaltender Joseph Woll suffered a back injury that forced him out of Game 7.

The unfortunate injury luck played a major part in the end of the Toronto Maple Leafs season. They will now look to reload and will do so under new leadership after head coach Sheldon Keefe was fired yesterday. The offseason will be a major turning point for the Toronto Maple Leafs and fun to follow along with.
