Over the past 48-hours we've heard from multiple prominent NHL players about their love for their Russian teammates and today the Penguins Kris Letang spoke out on behalf of his teammates Evgeni Malkin.
Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports along with the NHL Network shared that Pittsburgh Penguins star defender Kris Letang spoke out on behalf of Russian-born players from "unjust criticism."
People who attack these guys, you are doing something completely useless. There are Russian players I know who have friends in Ukraine and friends in Russia. It is extremely difficult for them to experience these moments.
Letang also went on to talk in more specifics about his teammate and friend Evgeni Malkin.
If someone attacks Evgeni Malkin, for sure, the other 23 players in our team will defend him, and they will be by his side. Evgeni Malkin is a human and a very good one.
As the war in Ukraine continues to rage we are likely to hear more of incidents involving Russian born players.
