Mark Giordano was named the first captain in Seattle Kraken history and he may ultimately end up being the shortest reigning captain in team history as well. As the trade deadline approaches Giordano's name has been linked to two different Canadian history.
Giordano is currently in the final year of a 6 year contract that pays him $6,750,000 per season, with that deal comes a modified no trade clause. The no trade clause allows Giordano the opportunity to list 19 teams that he's unwilling to be traded to. With this much control Giordano can all but dictate where he'd like to go by including most playoff teams on his no trade list.
There are multiple reports online slowly surfacing claiming Giordano would like to return to Calgary, the team who left him unprotected in the expansion draft or home to Toronto, where he'd be reunited with one of his best friends TJ Brodie.
There has been a lot of speculation about where Giordano's future leads, but at 38-years old it's very unlikely Gio wants to go through the growing pains in Seattle.
With that we will leave you with this 3rd hand report of Gio's interest in ending his career for the team he grew up watching.
