Erik Karlsson's name has been linked to almost every contender in the NHL this off-season, but throughout it all, one team has seemingly remained the favourite, with that being the Pittsburgh Penguins.
With a talented, veteran core, the Pittsburgh Penguins under new GM Kyle Dubas seem ready to make one more run at the Stanley Cup, and landing Karlsson could be a way to make that happen.
Their second buyout window occurs this weekend, and with much money needed to move if they are to land the three-time Norris Trophy winner, insiders have begun connecting the dots.
According to Elliotte Friedman, everyone should be keeping an eye on Pittsburgh and San Jose this weekend, as the deal could finally be made between the two sides.
I am very curious to see by the time that buyout window closes. We have some clarity on Erik Karlsson.
There is noise on the radar to keep an eye out this weekend.
There's plenty of potential mock trades out there, but with San Jose not competing and the Penguins looking for another Cup run, they're perfect trade partners, and could make that official anytime over the next 72 hours.
