It seems as if the NHL's top brass can't get out of its own way when it comes to simply being compassionate human beings.

The latest in the line of the league's mishandlings comes out of Las Vegas, where goaltender Logan Thompson was preparing to honor those who bravely fight the battle versus cancer by playing a ribbon on his helmet as part of Hockey Fights Cancer Month in the NHL.
Apparently, the gesture was too grand and from on high, the league put a stop to the touching gesture by Golden Knight's goalies.

NHL continues to lack pride

The National Hockey League has heaped its own share of bad PR on itself this offseason when they announced that they would no longer allow themed warmup jerseys in the wake of Pride Night controversies stemming from last season.
Then, in October, it was announced that rainbow colored «Pride Tape» was also banned, after it had not been an issue in any prior seasons.
The league was forced to rethink their stance regarding tape following player opposition, but the themed warmup jersey ban remains in place.
