Ovechkin Opens Up on Potential Kuznetsov Trade
The Washington Capitals have been rumoured to be looking into a trade for Evgeny Kuznetsov this offseason, and many believe that he won't be in a Caps jersey come October.

Fellow Caps player, leader, and countryman Alex Ovechkin has had a long relationship with Kuznetsov. He had this to say about the potential trade.

«I hope that this will not happen, because he is my close friend, a wonderful person, a great teammate. Therefore, I would not want this, but it does not depend on me.»

Ovi and Kuznetsov have been close since Kuznetsov moved to Washington for the end of the 2013-14 season.
Kuznetsov's Wishes
It was reported last March that Kuznetsov requested a trade a few times through his agent over multiple seasons. It was then confirmed this July by NHL insider Mike Vogel that he wanted out of Washington.
Kuznetsov is coming off a down year, where he recorded 55 points, 23 fewer than the season prior.
