It's always a rollercoaster ride being a Habs fan. The lows are so low light can't pierce in, and then the highs...Well lets just say its heavenly.
Listening to the TSN 690 post game show last night, I thought the Habs were in a playoff spot. The energy from the fanbase was completely different.
Prior to the game if you asked 10 random fans what they thought, 9 would likely say blow up the team, or tell you it's over. After the game however, plan that parade.
The passion from the fanbase is unquestionably there, and Habs fans certainly wear their emotions on their sleeves. I wonder though, how long until the mood is switched again?
The team absolutely looked rejuvenated against The Preds. Guys were winning battles, playing as a team, and actually finishing. That was of course, until the 3rd period.
It's definitely skewed looking at the 3rd period. The players were up 5-0 and absolutely took their collective feet off the gas, but that in itself is a troubling sign.
The team is underperforming without question, it's a different club than the one in the finals last summer to be sure, but there is still lots of quality there.
Looking ahead at the upcoming schedule, the Habs will be tested against the likes of the Washington Capitals, the Penguins, the Avs, and another game against a Predators team likely looking
to avenge last night. Will Habs fans still have all this positivity after these games? I certainly hope so, and if Montreal can find a way to beat these teams, maybe they can turn this season around.
As always, the rollercoaster ride continues, and I wouldn't change that for anything.
