David Krecji Reveals Massive Mistake that Lost the Bruins the Cup in 2019
The Boston Bruins fell just short of the Stanley Cup in 2019 and David Krejci has revealed one of the things they could have done differently to win it all.
The Biggest Mistake Of 2019
In 2019, the Boston Bruins were a powerhouse making the Stanley Cup Finals. Many thought that the Bruins were the favorites heading into their series with the St. Louis Blues but unfortunately, they lost the series and the cup.
Recently, David Krejci has spoken on what he felt was the biggest mistake that his head coach, Bruce Cassidy, made during that series.
"We had a great relationship off the ice, we had great conversations, but I regret one thing."
"I think he could have shuffled those three and helped me out a little bit. That and the team. We went to the finals in 2019, I had over 70 points in the season without playing with Pasta for an extended period of time. If Cassidy had seen it a little differently back then..." said Krejci, trailing off without finishing his sentence.
Those three is referring to Boston's perfection line, Brad Marchand, Patrice Bergeron, and David Pastrnak.
Pastrnak, like Krejci, is Czech and had a lot of chemistry with him.
Krejci's Respect For Cassidy
While Krejci criticized this move by Cassidy, refusing to play him with Pastrnak, he still holds an immense amount of respect for his former coach.
"He knew exactly when to yell at me. He had me read and to this day I am still grateful for his attitude towards me. We won the Stanley Cup together. He was the one who pushed me on how to play in the most important games of the season."
Cassidy has further proved that he is one of the best coaches in the NHL after winning the Stanley Cup as the head coach of the Vegas Golden Knights.
With Krejci retired, he may spend some time away from the game but with his experience and watching how great coaches like Cassidy and Jim Montgomery coach, he may just make up to be a great coach in his own regard.
