A top Chicago Blackhawk from their dynasty has officially retired from hockey.
Hjalmarsson Retires From Hockey
Niklas Hjalmarsson has officially announced his retirement from hockey.
Hjalmarsson was a key contributor in the Blackhawks' cup runs as their top defensive defenseman. He played in 10 seasons with the Blackhawks playing in 623 games for the franchise.
After that, he notched on an additional four seasons with the Coyotes to end his NHL career with 14 seasons played, 821 games played, and 172 points.
He officially retired from hockey in 2021 but decided to play last season in the SHL where he played as HV71's captain last year scoring 3 points in 17 games played.
We wish him all the best as he embarks on his next chapter of life.
