Auston Matthews was disappointed with himself and his teammates following a 9-3 loss to the Buffalo Sabres and the leading goalscorer let everybody have it.

Leafs Lose 9-3: Matthews Calls Everybody Out

Last night was a night to forget for the Toronto Maple Leafs. They did not have good defense or goaltender, which is a deadly combination in the NHL. Allowing three goals in every single period, they did not succumb to one blitz but rather were beaten down consistently throughout the game.
Obviously, they were upset with themselves and gave some very telling interviews. Superstar Auston Matthews shared his true thoughts on the game and in turn called out everybody on the team saying that they needed to be better.
"Embarrassing is probably the right word to use from start to finish, top to bottom, not nearly good enough. Just a bad hockey game from our team. Collectively, probably one of the worst games since I have been here. It's hard to pinpoint one thing. I think it was all just disappointing." - Auston Matthews

"Embarrassing is the word I'd use," says Auston Matthews. "Probably the worst game since I've been here."

Matthews' Incredible Scoring Pace

While the Leafs were embarrassed, the night was not entirely bad for Auston Matthews as he was able to score his 26th goal of the season.
Matthews is scoring at an incredible pace and is well on track to net 70+ this year.
As long as Matthews keeps doing what he is doing offensively, the Leafs should be able to come together and take a real run at the Stanley Cup.
