Quinn Hughes says goodbye to the Vancouver Canucks with emotional statement
Quinn Hughes has spent his entire NHL career in Vancouver, but now he bids farewell to the Canucks after the shocking trade to the Minnesota Wild.
It has been a wild 24 hours for Vancouver Canucks captain Quinn Hughes, and while many expected a trade to happen, no one quite saw him ending this weekend as a member of the Minnesota Wild.
Hughes will be joining a team in a wild race in the Central Division this season, and with the likes of Matt Boldy, Brock Faber, Kirill Kaprizov and one of the NHL's best goaltending tandems around him, he'll find himself at home in this race.
Quinn Hughes officially bids farewell to Vancouver
While Hughes long wanted out from Vancouver given their struggles, he has spent seven years of his career with the team, and unsurprisingly, he was full of emotion after finding out about the deal.
Now, he has taken to social media to bid farewell to the only team he's ever known in the NHL, making it clear just how much he appreciates the fans and the organization as a whole.
I am very proud to have played for the Vancouver Canucks for 7 years. I loved the passion in the city and it brought me some of the most exciting times of my life, living out my dream. What makes playing in Vancouver so special is the people, the city and what the team means to them! I will always be proud to have represented the Canucks!
I want to thank Franceso Aquilini and the entire Aquilini family for everything they have done for me the last seven years, they have been first class and I will always be grateful to them. Thank you to Jim Rutherford and Adam Foote for their belief and mentorship. All the staff over the years for always being there for me. Thank you to my teammates, some of my best friends.
In saying that, I am ready for this next chapter and I couldn't be more excited to be in the State of Hockey. See you tomorrow Minnesota!

Clearly, Hughes' career in Vancouver isn't going to be something he takes for granted, and while he's ready to move on, he's nothing but appreciative for his time in Vancouver.
