Wild GM Bill Guerin reveals why the team actually traded for Quinn Hughes

The last 24 hours have been a whirlwind, not only for the National Hockey League, but especially the Minnesota Wild, as the team gave up four significant assets to land the second best defenseman in the entire league.

This improves the Wild's outlook on the season ahead and the future significantly, and with the likes of Kirill Kaprizov, Matt Boldy, Brock Faber, Filip Gustavsson and Jesper Wallstedt leading the way beside Hughes, this is a team to keep an eye on.

However, many have now pointed to the centre depth in Minnesota as a major question mark as to why they would have made this move, with no established top-six centres dominating for them.

Now, GM Bill Guerin has addressed the media for the first time since the trade, revealing that he believes former first-round pick Danila Yurov has stepped into his role nicely, and given how he's improved, he gives the team confidence moving forward.

Despite making his NHL debut this season, Yurov has looked more and more comfortable as the year has gone on, tallying 3 goals and 7 points across 24 games, with the team believing in him as their 1C alongside Kaprizov for now.

Ultimately though, this is a team that's now expected to make some noise in the post-season, and if they want to do that, it's more likely than not that they will have to make an addition down the middle in the coming months.
