The Vancouver Canucks have traded captain and franchise superstar Quinn Hughes to the Minnesota Wild.

Hughes, who has two years remaining on his contract that pays him $7.85 million annually, will join the Wild - despite rumours linking him to multiple eastern conference teams.
Hughes has long been linked to the New Jersey Devils, where his brothers Jack and Luke are both under contract long-term. Interest was also reported from the Washington Capitals, Philadelphia Flyers, Detroit Red Wings, and Columbus Blue Jackets.
The return is truly massive - it will include Marco Rossi, the 9th overall pick in 2021, Zeev Buium, the 13th overall pick in 2024, Liam Ohgren, the 19th pick in 2023, and a first round pick.
The Canucks will get a power play quarterback in Buium, a top center in Rossi, and a possible top-six player in Ohgren. A truly outstanding return.
Buium has already proven himself as a great offensive player in the league - he has great vision, and a high-end toolkit.
Rossi recently signed a short-term extension with the Wild after rampant trade rumours this summer. It was widely believed that Vancouver was among the teams in on him.
Ohgren has shown less than the other two, but is still a very high-end prospect.
Finally, the 2026 first round pick is extremely valuable for a Canucks team looking to get younger.
More to come.
