Kraken lose forward Jared McCann for multiple weeks

The Seattle Kraken have announced that they will once again be without forward Jared McCann for an extended period time, as he's been once again hurt not long after coming back from a previous injury.

He collided with Los Angeles Kings goaltender Anton Forsberg during their recent matchup at Climate Pledge Arena and left the game. And now, the Kraken have announced that he's expected to miss at least the next three weeks.

McCann backed over Forsberg's leg and fell to the ice with 39 seconds left in the third period, and while he was in obvious pain, he managed to get up and skate to the bench under his own power before going immediately to the locker room with assistance.

So far this year with the Kraken, McCann has eight points (5G, 3A) in just 11 games, as he's already been limited with a previous injury.

This won't be the first time that McCann has been forced to miss extended time with an injury this season.

He's already missed 17 games, and has been limited to only 17 appearances so far.

McCann was taken with the 24th overall pick by the Vancouver Canucks in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft, and started his NHL career with them before being traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins with Nick Bjugstad in exchange for Derick Brassard, Riley Sheahan, a second- and fourth-round pick in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft and Minnesota's fourth-round pick in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft.

In 2021, he was traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs only days before he would be claimed by the Kraken in the 2021 NHL Expansion Draft.

In just his second year in a Kraken sweater, he scored 40 goals.
