Jared McCann has been fantastic since joining the Kraken, and now according to reports, both the Canadiens and Devils are targeting the star forward.
Jared McCann was acquired by the Seattle Kraken in their original expansion draft, and since joining the team he's been stellar, posting goal totals of 27, 40, 29 and 22 in four seasons with the team.
However, heading into 2025/26 there is little hope for them in the loaded Western Conference, and with McCann holding great value at just 29-years of age, there's been some whispers that he could be on the move.
Montreal and New Jersey target McCann
According to
recent reports, that interest in McCann has led to several teams being interested in the star forward, with the Montreal Canadiens and New Jersey Devils listed as two teams that have shown significant interest in him.
To this point, the Kraken have shown little desire to move the 29-year old, but if they struggle early in the season, if the market is a sellers market like it was in 2025, it makes perfect sense to cash in now while he still has two years left on his current deal.
In McCann, the Kraken have a winger that can play centre if needed, and if paired with elite level talent, something that both Montreal and New Jersey have, he could be a 40-goal scorer in the NHL for a few years to come.
In any deal for McCann, the Kraken would likely demand a top level prospect and a first-round pick, so only time will tell if Montreal or New Jersey would be willing to pay that, and as the season approaches, it's certainly a story to keep a close eye on.
