Even though the Canadiens are tied for fourth in the Atlantic, they've made a meaningful change in leadership with the firing of their goaltending coach today.
Even though the Montreal Canadiens have had a good regular season, they've made a meaningful change in leadership with the firing of goaltending coach Eric Raymond.
Montreal Canadiens President, Hockey Operations Jeff Gorton announced on Wednesday that goalie coach Eric Raymond has been relieved of his duties. Marco Marciano will serve as interim goalie coach until the end of the season. - Montreal Canadiens
The move was made after Montreal's 3-2 OT win over the Vegas Golden Knights at home last night.
Marciano had the same role with the American Hockey League affiliate Laval Rocket, where he worked with Jakub Dobes and Jacob Fowler.
Marciano, who worked with the Canadian Women's National Team in the 2010 Vancouver Olympics, has also worked with the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League's Cape Breton Screaming Eagles, Drummondville Voltigeurs, Montreal Junior and Blainville-Boisbriand Armada.
The Canadiens Have Made A Goaltending Coach Change
The Canadiens are fourth overall in the Atlantic Division, but their goaltending stats aren't overly impressive.
Even though Dobes is 16-5-3, he has a 2.96 GAA and a .890 SV%. Samuel Montembeault, who has largely struggled this year, is 9-8-2 with a 3.46 GAA and a .868 SV%.
Jacob Fowler is 4-4-2 with a .902 SV%.
Last year, the Canadiens got back to the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the first time since their miracle run to the 2021 Stanley Cup Final, but they were knocked out in the ECQF by the Washington Capitals.
