The Nashville Predators are struggling again in 2025/26, and as a result, the San Jose Sharks could push hard to land their star captain Roman Josi.

The past two years haven't exactly worked out the way that anyone in Nashville would have liked, and while they've improved in 2025/26, this is a team that still sits 26th overall in the standings.
That being said, they are just three points out of the final Wild Card spot in the Western Conference, but if they fall further out of the race, the expectation is that they could trade some key pieces on this team.

San Jose Sharks linked to Roman Josi

If that does happen, most expect the team to take calls on players like Filip Forsberg, Steven Stamkos and Jonathan Marchessault, but now, there has been some chatter about their captain Roman Josi.
According to ESPN's Greg Wyshynski on the latest episode of The Sheet with Jeff Marek, the San Jose Sharks could be a team that pursue Josi, and with their significant assets for the future, if they want to go all in, they're a team that make perfect sense.
Like, do they go knock knock knocking on Nashville's door and see if there's a way, if they fall apart, for the Predators to get Roman Josi out of there? Like, do they have to go find that guy, do you think, in order to really, really level up as a contender in the West?
As of right now, there's been no indication that Josi is asking out of Nashville, but given the way the team have struggled, perhaps joining a young, ascending team with a superstar like Macklin Celebrini could be appealing for him.
Ultimately, this move only happens if Josi is on board, and while it's likely that he's very comfortable with the Predators, if he's got any interest in being moved, the Sharks would be a team that make sense for all involved.
