Oilers linked to another eastern conference goalie by analysts
The Edmonton Oilers recently made a goalie move, but now, reporters have linked the team to a very intriguing Buffalo Sabres veteran net minder.
Following months and months of speculation, the Edmonton Oilers finally moved Stuart Skinner in a recent trade that saw them acquire veteran blue liner Tristan Jarry from the Pittsburgh Penguins.
In two games thus far, Jarry has posted a 3.50 GAA and an .879 save percentage, and with Calvin Pickard not lighting the world on fire as his backup, there's speculation that the Oilers could make another move.
Edmonton Oilers linked to another veteran in Alex Lyon
That has led to another potential goaltender change by the Oilers, with Oilers Nation linking them to Buffalo Sabres veteran Alex Lyon, who is enjoying a fantastic campaign in his first season with the Sabres in 2025/26.
In 17 games this season, Lyon has posted a 2.99 GAA alongside a solid .905 save percentage, and with the Sabres recently making a huge change to their front office, a trade is something that could come soon as the new General Manager looks to shake things up.
Lyon makes sense as a target for the Oilers, as he won't be too expensive, and fortunately for the team, he would fit perfectly as a backup despite extensive experience as a starter in the National Hockey League.
Ultimately, things needed to change for the Oilers after two straight trips to the Stanley Cup Finals, and while they've already made one move, the expectation is that another could come too, and if they can do so without giving up major assets, Lyon is a player that makes sense to pair with Jarry.
