Flames Star Rasmus Andersson Shuts Down Rumours of Difficult Trade Process
Rasmus Andersson was reportedly trying to force the Flames hand earlier this summer, but now he's denied any reports of a difficult trade process.
For much of this summer, Calgary Flames fans have been eagerly anticipating some trade news on veteran forward Rasmus Andersson, but thus far, no negotiations between the team and other interested parties have been revealed to go too far.
Earlier this off-season however, we did get some reporting that Andersson was making the process difficult, but now, it's been revealed that isn't the case after all.
Andersson clears the air after a rough summer
A few months ago, reports emerged that Andersson was pushing the Flames to trade him to Vegas, with some insiders going as far to say as that he would not accept a trade anywhere else, and would even torpedo a deal elsewhere.
Now, in a recent piece from Sportsnet's Eric Francis, that has been revealed to be false, as Andersson himself shot down the idea that he did this to GM Craig Conroy and the organization.
"I saw some reports that I would only sign with one team, and this and that. I mean, it couldn't be further from the truth. Me and Connie (GM Craig Conroy) have had a few conversations over the summer, and I would never handcuff him and give him one team."
Does that mean that things are fine in Calgary regarding Andersson? Likely not, but given the reports that stated how he was handcuffing the organization, it's nice to see Andersson clear the air and reveal that those reports were simply not true.
For now, it's likely that the team will still be looking to move the veteran blue liner, and if his comments are true, it means that this process will likely result in the Flames accepting the best deal possible for the veteran blue liner.
