Insiders Update Corey Perry's Status After Mysterious On-Ice Injury
Corey Perry was taken from the ice at the Kings facility on Friday, and now an update on his status has not lifted the spirits of those worried Kings fans.
One of the Los Angeles Kings biggest pickups this off-season was veteran forward Corey Perry, who the team stole from the long-time rival Edmonton Oilers in free agency.
Last season, the 40-year old had 19 goals in Edmonton, and given the tough, gritty presence that he brings to the ice, there's been excitement in LA for their new veteran.
Unfortunately, it one of his first practices at the facility this off-season, it was revealed that Perry was helped off the ice with a mysterious injury on Friday, one that we've gotten little clarity on to this point.
Elliotte Friedman reveals the latest on Corey Perry
Now, a day later, NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman has given an update on the situation, but not one that Kings fans would have been hoping for, as he revealed that Perry's status is uncertain, and we likely won't get an official team update until at least the start of training camp.
Main training camp for Los Angeles is expected to start this Thursday the 18th of September, giving the Kings a few days to get an official verdict on Perry's injury, with the team hoping that the month between now and the season opener can give him enough time to recover.
For now though, Kings fans will be patiently waiting for an update on their big free agency signing this off-season, as they need to be at 100% heading into this new season if they want to make some noise in the very competitive Pacific Division.
