According to NHL Insider Kevin Weekes, a former first round pick back in 2014 by the New York Islanders is heading to Russia after he signed a one year deal with Salavat Yulayev Oufa in the KHL.
Once thought to be a top-10 pick, Ho-sang dropped to 28th overall in his draft year because he had a ''bad attitude''. 8 years later, Ho-Sang played in 53 NHL games where he scored 7 goals and 24 points. During this time he also played in 225 AHL games and recorded 158 points.
The Native of Ontario, Canada also represented team Canada at the Beijing Olympics this past February where he recorded 3 assists in 5 games.
Ho-Sang signed with the Maple Leafs last year hoping to get a chance at an NHL spot after the Islanders refused to call him up on multiple occasions which led to him calling out to organization, but instead he actually got less of an opportunity with the Maple Leafs.
Ho-Sang will now head to the KHL which will be his second time going over to Europe to play, which he did in the 2020-21 season when he played in the Swedish Elite League, where he recorded 3 points in 9 games.
