The Los Angeles Kings have traded forward Warren Foegele back to Canada, sending him to the Ottawa Senators on the eve of the trade deadline.
Tomorrow is the NHL trade deadline, and there is expected to be a flurry of activity by multiple teams that will result in several players changing professional addresses.
We've already seen multiple players moved today, including Jeff Petry from the Florida Panthers to the Minnesota Wild and Nicolas Roy from the Toronto Maple Leafs to the Colorado Avalanche.
Now, there has been another move between an East and West team, as the Los Angeles Kings are making another trade, this time sending Warren Foegele to the Ottawa Senators.
The news was reported by NHL analyst Darren Dreger, who also included that the trade is still pending approval from the League.
So far this year with the Kings, which was his second in a Los Angeles sweater, Foegele has nine points (7G, 2A) in 47 games played.
Warren Foegele Is On His Way Back To Canada
Foegele was taken with the 67th overall pick in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft by the Carolina Hurricanes, where he would play the first several years of his NHL career.
But he was traded to the Edmonton Oilers in 2021 for Ethan Bear and then signed to a three year contract extension.
He would help the Oilers get to the Western Conference Final in his first year with the club, and then eventually the Stanley Cup Final in his third year.
But then he signed a three year contract with the divisional foe Kings that still has another year with an AAV (average annual value) of $3.5 million left.
In 560 career NHL games, Foegele has 218 points (111G, 107A).
