Golden Knights top-10 pick among eight players placed on waivers today

Most of the attention by NHL fans and analysts is focused on the impending trade deadline, which is tomorrow afternoon. There is expected to be a flurry of activity from multiple teams that could result in multiple players changing professional locations before the day is over.

But in the meantime, there are a whopping eight players who are now officially up for grabs on the NHL waiver wire from multiple teams.

They include Maxim Tsyplakov, Luke Glendning and Evgenii Dadonov from the New Jersey Devils, Alexander Holtz and Cole Reinhardt from the Vegas Golden Knights, Curtis Douglas from the Tampa Bay Lightning, Mathieu Joseph from the St. Louis Blues and Garrett Wilson from the Philadelphia Flyers.

As mentioned by NHL analyst Elliotte Friedman, Joseph is being put on waivers for the purposes of a contract termination and to become an unrestricted free agent.

Holtz was taken seventh overall in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft by the New Jersey Devils, and was traded in June of 2024 to the Golden Knights with goaltender Akira Schmid for Paul Cotter and a third round pick in the 2025 NHL Entry Draft.

Holtz has nine points (3G, 6A) in 28 games this year in a Golden Knights sweater.

Dadonov, who had 40 points (20G, 20A) with the Dallas Stars last year, has no points in 17 games so far this year in a Devils sweater.
