Colton Parayko has declined to waive his no trade clause for the Buffalo Sabres, and the massive trade that was announced yesterday has fallen through.

The framework was there, but Parayko held the final card. His full no-trade clause allows him full agency over a trade, and he was unwilling to go to Buffalo.
For Buffalo, it is brutal news, as they've now revealed their cards, and their biggest 'want' for their trade deadline.
For St. Louis, emotions are likely at a high, and we will see if they can pull off another move.
Pat Maroon, a longtime teammate of Parayko, said this morning that he would be surprised if Parayko were to waive. It turns out, he was absolutely right.
Parayko, who was an Olympian with Team Canada just a few weeks ago, has been a Blue for over a decade; it won't be too easy to get rid of him.
Next move is either a new landing spot he approves, or the Blues keep him and Buffalo pivots before the deadline clock bites.
We know the Sabres were ready to part with 2025 9th overall pick Radim Mrtka, as well as their first round pick -- it'll be interesting to see if those assets are used in another deal.
