The Boston Bruins are looking to be active ahead of the trade deadline, and now they've acquired a fourth round pick in exchange for a veteran forward.
The Boston Bruins have taken a step forward this season, and while they're currently on the outside looking in at a Stanley Cup Playoffs position in the Eastern Conference, this is a team with the ability to surprise some teams in the East.
However, they're still a squad that's got plenty of holes, and given their reported interest in Rasmus Andersson recently, it's become clear that they're ready to be buyers ahead of the trade deadline.
Bruins complete deal with the Anaheim Ducks
On Friday, the team did the opposite, as they made a deal with the Anaheim Ducks, sending veteran forward Jeffrey Viel West in exchange for a fourth-round pick from the young Ducks, a team that is looking to take a step towards the post-season in 2025/26.
The 28-year old has appeared in just 84 games at the NHL level over his career that has spanned five seasons, playing for both the Bruins and the Ducks division rival San Jose Sharks.
In that time, the un-drafted forward has posted 3 goals and 5 points, with 0 points tallied this season in 10 games played with the Bruins, with the Ducks liking the experience and the depth that he'll bring to the organization.
In the deal, the Bruins will get the better of the Ducks fourth-round picks this season, and given that he wasn't too key to the Bruins lineup this season, it's safe to say that they'll be thrilled with this return.
