Auston Matthews shuts down reporter after question about Mitch Marner
Mitch Marner played the Maple Leafs for the first time since his departure, and when asked about it, Auston Matthews made it clear he was done with Marner questions.
After nine long years, Mitch Marner departed the Maple Leafs this summer in free agency, opting to join the Vegas Golden Knights in a move that rocked the entire city of Toronto.
There's been non-stop talk about Marner in the media as of late ahead of the Maple Leafs visit to Vegas on Thursday, and finally, the team got to see their long-time teammate as an opponent for the first time in the NHL.
Auston Matthews fed up with Marner questions
Following warmups, where nothing that dramatic happened on the ice, captain Auston Matthews was asked about his long-time linemate and friend, and after so many questions about him during the day, he made it clear he was done with Marner questions.
I didn't look over so I don't know. I think I've had enough of the Mitch questions for the day, so let's just get ready for the game. - Matthews
In a seemingly respectful manner, No. 34 shut down any questions about Marner as quick as he could, as he was focused on getting the Maple Leafs back in the win column again after his recent run of play.
At the end of the day however, it was Marner and the Golden Knights that got the last laugh as Vegas rallied from behind and picked up the win on Jack Eichel's overtime goal, and while the Marner questions are done for now, they'll no doubt come up again when Vegas visit Toronto for the first time this season.
