The NHL have announced a major new sponsor, and in typical NHL fashion, it appears as though the move may alienate some Canadian fans and teams.

The business of the National Hockey League has seemingly been booming in recent years, and with the asking price for a new franchise now well over $1 billion, with the league potentially set to look at expansion, that will only get better.
This season, we've seen more key sponsors introduced as the organization look to continue growing in this new 32-team league, and on Thursday, they announced another new, major sponsor.

NHL's newest major sponsor isolates Canadian NHL teams

The latest sponsor? The United States Postal Service, and while that is a big fish for the NHL to reel in as their newest sponsor, it has raised some fear that the league are continuing to isolate their Canadian teams, despite how much of the market is based on Canadian fans.
According to the league, the USPS is now the 'shipping sponsor' of the league, and after bringing in Fanatics to be their uniform manufacturer, it's safe to say that many have questions over some of the decisions the league has made in recent times.
The NHL epitomizes the competitive spirit and embodies the characteristics of teamwork, endurance, determination and the relentless pursuit of excellence. Every day, our organization brings these traits into our daily service to the American public and so we are pleased to bring our brands together for what promises to be a fun and entertaining collaboration. - Sheila Holman, VP of Marketing for USPS

As of right now, we don't quite know what this partnership will bring for the league, but with Gary Bettman continuing to add to his sponsorships to improve the business of the NHL, this one should end up being another solid deal for the league office.
