Two teams circling the towering Logan Stanley as free agent search drags into training camp

Logan Stanley is still hunting for a job in mid September, and it is starting to feel like his patience this offseason may end up costing him.

The towering left shot defenseman has spent recent weeks skating with the OHL's Kitchener Rangers just to stay sharp while he waits for a team to come calling.

The Ottawa Senators are one franchise paying close attention.

With Zub still hurt on the back end, general manager Steve Staios has reportedly kept a short list of possible professional tryout candidates, and Stanley's name sits right there alongside veteran Ben Hutton.

The Anaheim Ducks are believed to be in the mix as well.

Anaheim has Cutter Gauthier locked into its long term plans and still has a handful of open contract slots, so adding Stanley on a modest one year deal worth close to a million dollars would make sense for a team searching for extra size and physicality along the blue line.

Stanley put up a career high nine goals and 21 points across 59 games with the Winnipeg Jets before being dealt to the Buffalo Sabres, where he added five assists in 17 regular season outings and chipped in 19 penalty minutes across eight playoff games.

He reportedly hoped to return home to Winnipeg this summer, but the Jets instead turned their attention to Mario Ferraro, and that pivot appears to have pushed him out of the picture.

Some league insiders felt Stanley was in line for a three year contract worth $4.5 million a season, and by staying patient and waiting for a better offer, he may have let that number slip away entirely.

Sens fans in particular would welcome the physical blueliner, especially after watching him get the better of Brady Tkachuk in a fight last season.
