A new rumor says Dylan Larkin could land with the Bruins as soon as tomorrow, though Boston isn't on his reported 10-team trade list and nothing is confirmed.
Dylan Larkin to Boston could be closer than anyone thought.
A post on X says the former Detroit Red Wings captain may become a Bruin as soon as tomorrow, with the info coming from someone the poster trusts.
It's still a rumor, so handle it that way.
Here's the catch. Larkin has a full no-trade clause, and his reported list of 10 acceptable teams doesn't include the Bruins.
The Athletic reported that expanded list in October, and it names Florida, Minnesota, Vegas, Dallas, Washington, Carolina, Utah, Tampa Bay, New Jersey and Colorado.
As of today, no change to it has been reported.
Why the situation is so messy
Larkin asked Detroit for a trade after last season and lost the captaincy over it.
Last Thursday, he told the team he wouldn't play again until he's moved, and the Red Wings suspended him without pay.
Interim general manager Shawn Horcoff has said Detroit won't be rushed into a return it doesn't like.
Larkin is 30 and signed an eight-year deal in 2023 that pays $8.7 million a year through 2030-31.
Before the suspension, he had two goals and four assists in 10 games this season.
What Boston would be getting
The Bruins have been searching for a true number one center, and Larkin fits that need.
Several online trade pitches have linked the two sides, but nothing official has come out of Boston or Detroit.
For this to happen, Larkin would have to waive his no-trade clause for Boston, and that's the part nobody has confirmed.
If tomorrow comes and goes quietly, that's likely why.
Until he signs off, this is a rumor worth watching.
