Insider gives latest details on Buffalo Sabres pursuit of Connor Hellebuyck

Tonight, a report from NHL insider Jeff Marek has reignited trade rumors surrounding the Buffalo Sabres and Connor Hellebuyck.
Earlier this offseason, reports indicated that the Buffalo Sabres were looking to make a big push to trade for goaltender Connor Hellebuyck at some point this offseason.
After the NHL Draft in Buffalo concluded, the reports around Hellebuyck and Buffalo quieted as both teams went to work on other needs in their team.
Now, Jeff Marek believes a deal is still on the table between the two sides if the Sabres are willing to make a big splash.
Insider confirms blockbuster deal involving Connor Hellebuyck to the Sabres is still on the table
According to Marek, the Sabres still feel an internal pressure to make a big move and capitalize on their Stanley Cup Playoff appearance last season.
If the Sabres led by Jarmo Kekalainen are going to make that major move, Marek believes that Hellebuyck is by far the most likely player involved.

The Sabres finally broke their playoff drought last season but ultimately fell apart in the playoffs due to struggles in between the pipes.
The Sabres have been vocal about their belief in the trio of Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen, Alex Lyon, and Colten Ellis but many around the league believe they would abandon the trio for an elite option.
Hellebuyck is a perennial Vezina Trophy contender and a former Hart Trophy winner coming off another great season that included leading Team USA to a gold medal win.
If the Sabres are ready to go all-in for a Stanley Cup run with their young core group then a Hellebuyck trade makes the most sense.
