Tonight, Carolina Hurricanes goaltender Frederik Andersen has released an emotional statement addressing the passing of his agent and NHL legend Claude Lemieux.
The hockey world was sent into shock earlier this week as former NHLer Claude Lemieux unexpectedly passed away.
Lemieux's passing came as a shock after he had just recently been seen at the Montreal Canadiens and Carolina Hurricanes game as a special guest of the Canadiens carrying the torch pre-game.
In the days following his passing, the hockey community have come together to honor and remember Lemieux and today that continued as Hurricanes goaltender Frederik Andersen released a statement.

When the news was announced, goalie Frederik Andersen had an important game to prepare for as he tried to help the Hurricanes clinch a Stanley Cup Final appearance.
With the game concluded and the Hurricanes on their way to the finals, Andersen took time to write an emotional and heartfelt statement about Lemieux.
Claude made an unimaginable impact on me during the more than 15 years he was a part of my life. I almost feel sorry for people who didn't have any opportunity to get to know him beyond his achievements and impact on the ice. As phenomenal as his hockey career was he was a better human being. From day one, he made me feel like he was part of his family. He treated me with care, compassion, loyalty, and love as if I were his own son.
It is clear that Lemieux had a profound impact on Andersen not only as a hockey player but as a person as well during the time that the two knew one another.
Now, Andersen will enter the Stanley Cup Finals with a heavy heart as he hopes to play for Lemieux and win a Stanley Cup.
