This afternoon, a new report has indicated that the Toronto Maple Leafs are potentially focusing in one one candidate as the favorite to be their next head coach.
The Toronto Maple Leafs search for a head coach continues after hiring former bench boss Craig Berube earlier this offseason.
Since bringing in new front office leaders John Chayka and Mats Sundin, the Maple Leafs have reportedly interviewed several candidates and are coming close to the end of their search process.
Now, according to a report The Toronto Star's Jonah Sigel the Maple Leafs are honing in their focus on Denver Pioneers head coach David Carle.

According to Sigel, the Maple Leafs are closing in on hiring David Carle as their next head coach.
The Toronto Maple Leafs are reportedly closing in on naming David Carle as their next head coach.
While this is just one report and a deal is not in place as of now, it seems the Maple Leafs have chosen Carle as their ideal candidate and will now enter contract negotiations.
Carle has been vocal about wanting a say in roster construction if he makes the jump from the NCAA to the NHL.
In his current role, Carle has been pivotal in leading the Denver Pioneers to success in the NCAA and has been crucial in recruiting top players to play for him.
The 36-year-old would become one of the youngest head coaches in the NHL and likely bring a fresh new style in comparison to that of Craig Berube
It remains to be seen whether or not the Maple Leafs will guarantee Carle this control or if talks will break down before an agreement can be reached.
