New information surfaces on surgery gone wrong for Maple Leafs forward Max Domi

Tonight, a new report from Steve Simmons has provided new information on the injury that led to Max Domi's surgery complications.
Earlier this week, the Toronto Maple Leafs announced that forward Max Domi had suffered a significant setback from a recent surgery.
At the time of the surgery initially, the Maple Leafs had not announced what the surgery was supposed to address or what had gone wrong.
Now, a report from Steve Simmons of the Toronto Sun has confirmed what the injury is that Domi is dealing with.
New report confirms details of Max Domi's surgery gone wrong
According to the latest report from Simmons, Domi underwent a back surgery this offseason after selecting his own doctor similar to Jack Eichel of the Vegas Golden Knights.
That surgery led to severe complications that have now impacted Domi's return timeline in a significant way.
According to sources, Domi chose his own surgeon to do the operation rather than the one the Maple Leafs had in mind. That's not uncommon with today's modern athlete, and that doesn't affect his insurance status as a Leafs player. What is uncommon: Something went terribly wrong with the surgery. For public consumption, no one is saying what.
According to Simmons sources, Domi was unexpectedly unable to walk for several days after the procedure causing major alarm for his condition.
Whatever happened here wasn't deemed successful. Apparently, Domi could not walk in the days following surgery, which created significant alarm. His status remains in doubt for the coming season.
It seems that as of now Domi has at least made some progress in that regard but his overall return timeline for the Maple Leafs is incredibly uncertain.
Hopefully, Domi's recovery does not hit any more roadblocks and he can return sometime next season for the Toronto Maple Leafs in the key role everyone hopes for him to play.
