The Winnipeg Jets are in for quite the rebuild sooner rather than later, and there very much remain question marks over the heads of several of their best players — not the least of which being Mark Scheifele.
The club's longtime captain and first-ever draft pick after moving from Atlanta seems primed for a move away from Winnipeg, and according to Elliotte Friedman, the Jets have already made clear their intentions for a possible Scheifele trade.
It's not an unfair ask by any stretch — the Jets are going to want a talented young forward to help drive their rebuild forward if that's their next move here. After all, Scheifele's scored 645 points in 723 games for the club.
A number of NHL clubs could use Scheifele's skill and experience down the middle (the Boston Bruins, anyone?), so it's fair for Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff to ask for a prime return.
