Most of us hockey fans love seeing big hits in the game. The aggression in our sport is one of the things that make it great, but no one ever thinks of the possible repercussions from these hits.
While sometimes a big hit results in injuries, it's not very often that it results in the removal of organs.
Unfortunately for this 23 year old, that was the case though. Yegor Stronov, who played for the Dynamo-Altay team in the VHL, was involved in a collision on February 11th which resulted in an injury that forced doctors to remove his kidney.
It was reported that there was damage to his left kidney and doctors were not able to save his organ during surgery, so it had to be removed.
He is currently in serious but sable condition and is expected to make a full recovery.
