Shane Wright has played two games with the Kraken this season. Seattle's GM, Ron Francis, confirmed something significant about the young player's future.
Francis Confirms Wright Won't Play at World Junior Championship
It seems that Canada will most likely not have Shane Wright on their roster for the 2024 World Junior Hockey Championship.
Although the 19-year-old forward is eligible to participate in the tournament, Ron Francis, the General Manager of the Seattle Kraken, doesn't believe Wright will participate.
In a press conference, Francis stated:
"I've already had discussions with Hockey Canada about that, so they kind of know where I stand. For me, he's kind of been there, done that, so I don't see him being part of the World Juniors this year. He's actually up with us now."
Wright was Team Canada's captain last year in Halifax, in what was likely his last Junior Tournament.
Wright Gets Another Shot at the NHL
Wright was called up from the AHL last week after Jordan Eberle suffered a frightening injury.
Wright had four goals and two assists in seven games with Coachella Valley prior to his recall.
"He's making a lot of strides. We're excited about the game he has and what he can do. - Ron Francis
Wright will be in action on Monday night as the Kraken will face the Colorado Avalanche.
