Carey Price to be Traded?
The Montreal Canadiens had a busy summer. Not only did they get new players, but they got rid of some bad contracts that were hurting the team.
Now, it looks like Carey Price could be the next to be traded.
Canadiens Shopping Price?
The rumours emerged that Kent Hughes could decide to trade Price's contract.
Carey Price has three years left on his contract at a $10.5 million cap hit. Most of the owed to him is covered under insurance, but it's not easy to move that contract.
«I think there's always a possibility to do things,» Hughes said. «I don't know what that looks like, and I don't know ultimately if that ever happens, but I certainly wouldn't describe it as an impossibility.» - Kent Hughes
Hughes likes to keep his cards close to his chest, but if the right deal comes along, don't be surprised of he pulls the trigger.
Trading Price?
The goalie has been injured since the 2021 Finals and played only a few more games afterwards. His playing career seems over, even with three years on his $10.5M AAV contract.
Trading Price could give more space for Hughes to make additions or sign all the young players coming up.
Price isn't in the team's plans anymore. With Samuel Montembeault, Jake Allen and Case DeSmith, the Habs will rely on good goalies all season long.
Price might not be the only goalie on the move, as Hughes is also expected to trade Casey DeSmith.
