The Vancouver Canucks are reportedly ready to place several veteran players on the trade market, but are said to not be interested in trading captain Quinn Hughes.
The Vancouver Canucks have not been meeting expectations so far this year under first year head coach Adam Foote, as they're in second to last place in the Pacific Division.
Only the divisional foe Calgary Flames, who recently beat them 5-2, are lower in the standings.
What it does appear to mean is potential UFAs and potentially a player or two with term, but the Canucks have also indicated they do not desire to tear it right down to the studs.
This action is noteworthy because of Jim Rutherford's track record. Historically, once he decides to act, he does not wait. His resume is full of moves consummated well before the trade deadline.
The Canucks are going to try and right the ship in the meantime when they play another divisional foe in the Anaheim Ducks, who have impressed so far this year, tomorrow night.
The Canucks Have Not Fared Well Under Adam Foote So Far
The Canucks were only a season removed from winning the Pacific Division and going to Game 7 of the WCSF against the Edmonton Oilers.
What followed was an extremely subpar year in which not only did they miss the playoffs, but also went through allegations of a fued between forwards JT Miller and
Elias Pettersson, the former of which was eventually traded to the New York Rangers after the fued was confirmed.
Coach Rick Tocchet left this summer and is now the coach of the Philadelphia Flyers, while assistant Adam Foote was promoted to his job.
So far, things haven't worked out for the Canucks and changes could be in store.
