The Canadiens have high hopes for a Stanley Cup run this season, and according to reports, their GM is ready to pay to give them the ammo needed for a long run.
The Montreal Canadiens took a leap forward in 2024/25, and with all of their young core showing immense promise, they entered the new season full of high hopes and expectations of a deep Stanley Cup Playoffs run.
Despite some struggles as of late, the team are still 11-7-3 early in the new season, and with their core thriving, this is a team that has an incredibly bright future in the loaded Eastern Conference.
GM Kent Hughes ready to make some major moves
If they want to have a bright present as well, the team will need to make some moves however, and according to reports from Darren Dreger on the
Barn Burner podcast, General Manager Kent Hughes is ready to use their significant assets to add some veterans to this team to help them right away.
They have a stockpile of good young talent in Montreal, and [Hughes is] ready to pay.
Over the past few weeks, there's been plenty of chatter in Montreal about
potentially acquiring Nazem Kadri from the Calgary Flames, but beyond that, they've got the draft picks and the young prospects to acquire many different veterans.
It's unclear when the team will pull the trigger on a big move, but with the season truly getting underway, if there's a player out there that they see as a fit, don't be surprised to see Kent Hughes try and make some moves in the coming weeks to help this team moving forward.
