William Nylander has been in hot water for a gesture from the press box, and now, the Maple Leafs star offered an official apology for the situation.

Recently, things haven't been going according to plan for the Toronto Maple Leafs, and after a 4-1 defeat at the hands of the Colorado Avalanche, optimism has hit a low this season for the fans.
However, there's now been another story emerging from that game, with sidelined superstar William Nylander in hot water for flashing an obscene gesture at the camera when it was on he and the other players in the press box on Sunday.

Nylander offers an apology for his recent actions

That has reportedly led to an investigation by the NHL, and when checking in with the media on Monday, Nylander offered not only an apology, but a reason as to why he was frustrated with the situation.
I just want to apologize for my actions yesterday. It was out of frustration so I'm sorry about that.

As for why he was frustrated:
Just not playing. I want to be out there with the guys. Yeah, just frustrated.
Given that Nylander has missed the teams last five games, it's easy to see why frustration would come into play, and while many see the reaction as an overreaction, there was simply no need for him to be making this gesture to the camera.
It's unclear as of right now when the NHL will reveal a potential punishment for Nylander, and while it's likely being pushed well out of proportion, this is a situation that will more than likely result in a fine for the immensely talented forward.
