The Maple Leafs lost on Sunday night, and now, William Nylander will be investigated following a gesture from the press box during that loss to Colorado.
The Toronto Maple Leafs haven't had the success they expected coming into the 2025/26 season, and with their latest defeat at the hands of the Colorado Avalanche, they've fallen five points out of the final Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference with a record of 24-19-9.
Unfortunately, things off the ice aren't going much better either, as their Head Coach is dealing with a brutal injury from a gym accident, and now, they're dealing with the drama of William Nylander flashing an obscene gesture at cameras during their latest game.
Nylander to be investigated by the NHL
During the game, Nylander was shown on the camera in the press box with his fellow injured Maple Leafs teammates, and when he was, he flashed a middle finger at the camera in jest.
However, it was taken very seriously, with Nylander himself taking to social media after the game to address the situation, but clearly, he didn't take this one too seriously.
TSN's Chris Johnston is now reporting that the league are taking this one seriously, revealing that Gary Bettman and the league will be taking a look into Nylander as a result of his actions on camera on Sunday.
Of course, many believe that would be highly unwarranted, with the star Maple Leafs forward potentially set to face a fine as a result of his actions, and while it wasn't necessary at all, a fine may be going a little too far, but for now, we will simply wait and see how this one plays out.
